VICE is an international youth media brand known for raw expression of subculture lifestyle, though it has simultaneously built the journalistic credibility to interview heads of state. Already established in digital, print, and elsewhere (including an advertising agency and a record label), VICELAND is VICE expressed as a dedicated television network.

Credited as Lead Animator, my responsibilities included leading the creation of animated template systems, providing technical guidance, and animating visual elements. I also led training on these assets for the internal Vice design team.

I worked on branding this network while freelancing for New York City creative studio Gretel, who earned awards for this project from Art Directors Club, Type Directors Club, and D&AD. So while the look is seemingly “undesigned,” the aesthetic intention resonates clearly as a frame for counterculture.
