Loving Day is named after Loving v. Virginia, the Supreme Court decision that legalized interracial marriage in the United States. It encourages people to host celebrations in honor of the case’s anniversary on June 12th. The roots of the project are in graphic design: it began as my graduate thesis at Parsons the New School for Design. I created the Loving Day concept, logo, website design, numerous invitations and posters, merchandise, and more. Loving Day has inspired hundreds of events in cities worldwide. It has been featured in the press including CNN, Time, The Washington Post, and many more. I lead a team of volunteers that plans events all year, including the 1000-person Loving Day Flagship Celebration in New York. Many of my speaking engagements are related to Loving Day.
